HCPC Education and Training Committee to consider proposed changes to the threshold level of qualification for paramedics

23 Feb 2018

At its meeting on 1 March 2018, our Education and Training Committee (ETC) will consider a paper on proposed changes to the threshold level of qualification required for entry to the HCPC Register for paramedics. This follows a consultation held last year.

In the paper, the ETC is asked to agree that the threshold level for entry for paramedics changes to degree level and to agree proposals for implementation.

If the ETC agrees the proposals, the Council would be asked for final approval at its meeting on 21 March 2018.

If implemented, this change would apply to pre-registration education and training programmes and not to individuals. Existing registered paramedics who have not completed a degree level qualification would continue to be registered.

For further information, the paper to be considered by the Education and Training Committee is available here.
