HCPC to seek new Chair of Council

08 Jul 2018

The HCPC will shortly commence an appointments process to seek a new Chair of Council. This follows Elaine Buckley’s decision not to seek reappointment, in order to resume her academic career.

Elaine Buckley said:
‘It has been an immense honour to serve as Chair of Council over the last three years. I feel privileged to have met key stakeholders from across the UK and to have worked with many hard working individuals within the HCPC. I am proud of the achievements and progress we have made as a Council and would like to thank everyone for their commitment and support.’

During her term of office, Elaine has led a review of corporate governance, developing the Council’s strategic leadership function and strengthening the independent representation on Committees. Another focus has been the development of a new Corporate Plan with its emphasis on strategic priorities and key performance indicators. She has been a strong advocate of the prevention agenda, speaking to many groups of registrants and employers on this issue which is significantly important to our public protection role. Elaine will continue to fulfil some of her long term commitments for the HCPC over the next few weeks.

Members of the Council have thanked Elaine for her service to the HCPC, her leadership and her commitment to public service as well as her integrity. They recognised her significant contribution and wished her well in her future career.
