Readmission: social workers and operating department practitioners

01 Dec 2018

The renewal window for social workers in England and operating department practitioners closed at midnight on 30 November 2018. If you did not renew your registration by the deadline, your name has been removed from the Register and you are unable to legally practise your profession using the protected title.

Complete and return the orange short form

We have written to everyone that has been removed from the Register, enclosing an orange readmission short form. This will arrive in approximately ten working days from the renewal deadline. Return this to us within one month of being removed and we will only charge you the £180 registration fee that you pay when you renew.

If we receive the form after this time we will be unable to accept it. Instead, you will need to complete a full application for readmission and will be charged a fee of £315 (this includes a charge of £135 to assess your application).

Return the form to us within one month of being removed and we will only charge you the £180 registration fee

Important information for social workers in England

Social workers in England are moving to a new regulator, Social Work England (SWE) next year, but it is important that you apply for readmission to the HCPC Register so that you can continue practising as a social worker in the meantime. We will work with the new regulator to transfer your registration, including your fees.
