The Chair is responsible for leading the Council, and for ensuring that it successfully discharges its responsibilities

In addition to the general responsibilities of an HCPC Council member, it is the role of the Council Chair to lead the Council, and to encourage accountability to the public and the professions.

As well as Chairing Council meetings, the Chair acts as the primary ambassador for the HCPC, representing us at conferences, meetings and other events.

The Chair monitors and develops the performance of individual Council members, and is responsible for working with the Chief Executive to ensure that the Council has oversight of the delivery of the HCPC’s strategy, policy and operational objectives and that it complies with its statutory responsibilities.

If you would like more information on the role of the Chair, their duties are laid out in Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Health Professions Order 2001.
