Annual monitoring 2018–19

30 Sep 2018

Meeting our revised education standards

We are starting to assess all approved programmes through our annual monitoring process in this academic year, to make sure they continue to meet our revised standards of education and training (SETs).

Evidencing practice-based learning and service and care involvement

This year we are also asking you to provide extra evidence in your audit to show how your programme has monitored practice-based learning and the involvement of service users and carers; both of which are new standards. We need to see this evidence for both the 2016–17 and 2017–18 academic years.

This includes evidence to demonstrate that you have sufficient placement capacity for learners, how service users and carers have been involved in the programme and its effectiveness, as well as feedback from relevant programme stakeholders relating to these areas, and how you have used this to make improvements.

Help and support in our winter webinars

We are planning a series of webinars to support you through our monitoring processes using the revised SETs. Are there any standards you are struggling to demonstrate? Do you understand what you need to submit? We want to address common challenging areas, so let us know what you would like us to cover in the webinars.

I want to suggest a topic

We recently emailed programme leads with details of the documentation you need to send us. At this stage, programmes for social workers in England and approved mental health professionals need to participate in the annual monitoring process, despite the planned transfer to the new regulator, Social Work England (SWE), in 2019.
