This consultation has now closed.

We consulted on draft standards for podiatric surgery.

We have developed these standards as part of moving toward our intention of annotating (marking) the entries of chiropodists / podiatrists in the Register who have undertaken approved qualifications which allow them to extend their scope of practice into performing podiatric surgery. We plan to annotate the Register to strengthen public protection.

We have engaged extensively with key stakeholders in drafting these standards. They cover requirements for podiatric surgery education and training programmes, as well as the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary for safe and effective podiatric surgery practice.

This consultation will be of particular interest to podiatrists who practise podiatric surgery; education providers; employers; professional bodies; and those who use podiatric surgery services.

We look forward to receiving your comments. You can download a copy of the consultation document below. This sets out our proposals in more detail and includes the draft standards. You will need to refer to this document when responding.
