We sought the views of stakeholders on proposals to increase the fees we charge for registration.

We last increased our fees on 1 April 2014. Since then the Government has announced changes on how the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) will be funded in the future. The PSA oversees the HCPC and the other eight independent UK statutory regulators of health and care professionals. From 1 August 2015, the regulators which the PSA oversees will have to fund some of its activities. The level of fee charged to regulators will be based on the number of registrants it has. This has meant that we have had to review our current fee levels earlier than anticipated.

We are now proposing an increase in our fees to ensure that we can meet our new funding obligations to the PSA and continue to function effectively as a regulator. In addition to consulting on changes to our fees, we are also consulting on amending our Rules to allow us to operate more efficiently whilst providing better customer service to our registrants.

We are proposing a £10 increase (an increase of 12.5%) to the annual renewal fee. This increases the renewal fee from £80 to £90. We are proposing similar increases to most of the other fees we charge.

If the proposals outlined in this document are agreed, the fees would be increased from 1 August 2015. Registrants would then pay the new renewal fee when they next renewed their registration after this date.
