The HCPC is seeking views on our proposal to rename the ‘local anaesthetics’ and ‘prescription only medicines’ annotations on the Register for chiropodists / podiatrists.

We are proposing that both of these annotations should be renamed for clarity and to ensure that the way they are labelled accurately reflects the exemptions to medicines legislation which appropriately trained chiropodists / podiatrists may use.

The proposed changes are as follows:

'Local anaesthetics' would become 'Medicines – administration'

'Prescription only medicines' would become 'Medicines – sale / supply'
