The regulation of social workers in England has transferred to Social Work England

02 Dec 2019

The HCPC and Social Work England worked very closely to deliver the transfer of regulation today.

Social Work England now has all of the information on registrants and has been supported to understand the complexities of our work, including the detail of live fitness to practise cases.

The social work register now appears on Social Work England’s website and any registrant queries, information updates and concerns about social workers now need to be raised with them.

Interim Chief Executive and Deputy Registrar, John Barwick, said;

“We have worked closely with our Social Work England colleagues to ensure continuity of regulation, and we are committed to continuing our collaborative working, sharing good practise and learning following the transfer.

I would like to thank everyone involved in this process for their hard work and wish the best to our former social work registrants in their professional careers.”
